Drones and Batteries in the Russia-Ukraine War

A “drone tsunami” has just reached one of Ukraine’s most elite special forces units. The “A” Special Operations Center of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), also known as the renowned Alpha Special Forces, has received over 25,000 drones from the “Come Back Alive” Foundation. According to the foundation, this is the largest single transfer of drones in its history.
The foundation’s press service announced the news on social media. This is not just a symbolic handover with ribbon-cutting and handshakes, but a large-scale deployment of aerial firepower.

The FPV drone requires a large amount of lithium polymer batteries to provide power.

The drone unit of the Alpha Force has been regarded as one of the most efficient forces in Ukraine. Charities have stated that their combat performance has consistently ranked among the top three. With this level of supply, it is unlikely that their operational tempo will slow down. This delivery also reflects that FPV drones have become a core part of the strategic landscape on the Ukrainian battlefield: compared to traditional ammunition, they are cost-effective, flexible in deployment and capable of precise strikes, thus redefining the way the two countries wage war.

The reported targets of the strike included: 4 headquarters and command posts, 3 military deployment sites (including the special operations units of the invading forces), 2 drone launch sites, 1 ammunition depot, 1 logistics hub, and 4 command observation posts.
According to the data released by this unit, Alpha’s operation has destroyed enemy equipment worth over 5.5 billion US dollars. Additionally, this unit also participated in the “Web” operation in June last year. It is reported that FPV drones hit 41 Russian strategic aircraft during that operation, with an estimated value of 7 billion US dollars.

Since the full-scale Russian invasion began, the duties of the Alpha Special Forces have expanded to include frontline and long-range strike missions, especially using drones to target enemy rear facilities and logistical targets. In modern conflicts, drones are no longer just auxiliary tools but have become the main weapon system. Under these circumstances, their production volume is increasing by the thousands.

In the future, unmanned aerial vehicles will play a more significant role, and there will also be a massive demand for specialized drone batteries.

Professional drone batteries are different from ordinary batteries. This requires more professional companies to create them. Hosopow FPV drone battery is a professional manufacturer that provides solutions for all small, medium and large-sized drone batteries.
